Partners for Change Outcome Management System (Pcoms)

The Pcoms (Partners for Change Outcome Management System) consists of the utilization of scales developed to track client progress and perception of the therapeutic alliance over the course of treatment. The scales are brief and easy to use by clients and are administered at the beginning and end of each session. Clients are asked to give feedback that best describes their experience using hash marks on the visual analog scales. These brief, four-item scales (Qrs and Srs) are self-report scales that take less than a minute to complete and score. The scales are available in written and oral forms and are available in several different languages. They are designed to assess change in three areas of client functioning: individual (or symptomatic) functioning, interpersonal relationships, and social role performance (work adjustment, quality of life. The purpose of the scales is always explained to the clients to help ensure active and sincere participation. This monitoring leads to increased opportunities to repair alliance ruptures, improve the relationship, modify intervention strategies and helps avoid premature termination.
