Impact
Upstream believes that investing early, wisely and together offers our community the greatest potential to uproot poverty and ensure equal opportunity for education and health in nurturing and supportive communities.
Supporting learning communities:
- school readiness
- truancy rates
- youth violence
Community partners representing schools, law enforcement, hospitals, businesses, government, resident groups, and more are coming together to share ideas and resources to make positive change. In these learning communities, we set goals to measure our success and then track our progress towards improved health, education, and income.

Prevention-Focused Policies
Upstream champions the implementation of prevention-focused policies in our work and our partners’ work. In addition to supporting the implementation and evaluation of prevention-focused programs, we promote broad policy changes that we believe will lead to a healthier, more equitable society.
