Reach Out and Read prepares America’s youngest children to succeed in school by partnering with doctors to prescribe books and encourage families to read together.

Target Outcomes
Short Term Outcomes
- Children build a library of books at home
- Parents and children read aloud together daily
- Parents understand the importance of reading aloud and their role in their child’s development
Long Term Outcomes
- Children are reading at grade level in 3rd grade
- Participants graduate from high school on time
- Participants become literate adults effectively able to negotiate the health care system
