Value in Preschool
Value in Preschool (Vip) works on two main levels in the community. First the program pays the tuition (up to $10,000 per year) for children from low-income families to attend high quality preschool with strong parent engagement components. Secondly, preschool programs are certified as high quality via evidence-based assessments. The families then choose their preschool program from a list of certified providers. The cohort of preschool providers, which will grow by 12 each new program year, will meet regularly, work on quality improvement activities in their respective programs, and have the opportunity to receive funding (a special mini-grant only available to VIP providers) and support to pursue national accreditation as a quality early childhood education program.
